Before we get to our big announcement of the giveaway finalists, let’s take a look back at the nomination phase of the contest. We’ve crunched the data to provide you with some key stats and significant trends in voting.
4Good Giveaway Nominee Stats & Trends
107 nonprofit organizations nominated
2,573 total votes from nonprofit supporters
474 votes for the top vote-getting organization
So what did we learn from the nomination phase?
All top vote-getting organizations encouraged followers to vote through social media
The key to this giveaway is social media. Despite 107 different nonprofit organizations receiving votes, the top 10 vote-getting organizations received 65% of the total votes. They did this by using Facebook and Twitter and rally their supporters and encourage them to vote for the organization – and encourage their friends to vote as well. Nearly all of the top nominees repeatedly posted a link to the giveaway on their Facebook wall, asking supporters to visit the page and vote. This is a key takeaway all our finalists should keep in mind.
A wide variety of nonprofits were nominated by supporters
From fighting diseases and helping children to networking mommies and rescuing animals, nominees in the 4Good Giveaway represented the full spectrum of nonprofit organizations. Nominees were small, medium and large in size, and ran the gamut from local organizations to international organizations. This goes to show how closely people hold nonprofit organizations to their hearts. Fully invested supporters are truly engaged with and committed to their favorite nonprofits, and they are willing to actively promote the organizations they support.
It’s also worth noting animal rescue organizations made up a significant number of nominees. We attribute this to the fact that animal rescue nonprofits seem to have some of the most active social media presences and ardent supporters.
