How To Find The Best Time To Post On Facebook To Reach Your Audience
By eleventy marketing group
For years, marketers have been theorizing about the best times to post on Facebook. In that span, you’ve probably seen a slew of articles telling you how to perfectly time your posts. Problem is, every organization has a different collection of followers; and different audiences are online at different times.
With recent changes to the Facebook Insights page, Zuckerberg and crew have finally given us the answer. Now there’s a way to use Facebook to find out the best times to reach the greatest number of followers. That means no more stipulating. Every brand page now its own easy-to-read data set.
Today, we’ll tell you how to use Facebook Insights to reach the greatest number of eyeballs on any given day.
Find the Best Time to Post on Your Facebook Page
Follow these easy steps each and every day to find out when the majority of your followers are most likely to be online based on the previous week’s behaviors.
1. Go to your Facebook brand page
If your admin panel is already showing up at the top of your brand page, click on either the “See All” link or the “Check out the new Page Insights” link in the insights box at the bottom of the page.
*If your admin panel is not already appearing at the top of the page, click on the “Show” button in the top right corner to make it appear.
2. Click on the “Posts” tab
The previous step will take you to your Insights page. Once you are there, click on the “Posts” link.
3. Click on “When Your Fans Are Online”
Clicking on the “Posts” link will display info about your recent posts. Next, click on the “When Your Fans Are Online” link.
You will be shown a visual of when people who are fans of your page have been on Facebook during the past week.
On the top of the page, you will see all seven days of the week. Below the days, you will see a graph telling you how many of your fans saw Facebook posts over a 24-hour period.
4. Select your posting day
By scrolling onto a day of the week, you will see a line on the graph showing you when your fans saw Facebook posts that day. To find the best time to post, scroll onto the day you want to post and identify the point (or points) on the graph when the most people were online (where the line peaks). Note what time it was by looking at the bottom axis of the graph. That is your ideal time to post.
*Every day you want to post, repeat this process. The data used for this display changes every week, so you have to keep checking back.
Test Timing, But Keep Post Content a Top Priority
While it’s not a “magic bullet” to reach all your fans with every post, this method of determining the best time to post based on user habits over the past week can help you push out your posts when your audience is more likely to be online. Since the information comes from Facebook and is based on your specific fans, it’s the most accurate data you’re likely to find.
At very least, this method of posting is worth testing out for a month or two to see what kind of results it yields. But it’s also important to remember that even if your timing is right to reach the majority of your audience, you still have to offer engaging content presented in a way that grabs their interest. For most organizations (businesses and nonprofits alike), that will remain the greater challenge.
