New Years resolutions are big business for gyms. Nearly 12% of new gym memberships start in January, according to the International Health, Racquet & Sportsclub Association.
National fitness chain Blast Fitness contacted eleventy marketing group to ramp up its efforts to recruit new members for the new year. With less than a month to go, we forged a marketing plan to attract new members to Blast through social media and an improved membership site.
Increasing Membership Signups
Great campaigns online require intelligent segmentation, reliable tracking and constant testing.
With that in mind, eleventy hooked into Blast Fitness' membership management software via an application programming interface (API). APIs allow third parties to send and receive data from internet services, such as a payment processor (think PayPal or Stripe) or social platforms (think Twitter or Facebook). A good API can even allow you to craft your own custom application based on these web technologies. Uber is an excellent example of a service that combines APIs from Google Maps and Stripe.
The API allowed us to overcome barriers with the standard, generic membership website the membership management software company set up. With the freedom the API provided us, we were able to craft our own custom checkout experience, easily track new member conversions and make changes to improve the experience for end users.
